Purpool is a workplace-based social networking site that promotes ridesharing as community-building activity. Purpool was conceived in 2006 by Peter Ohring and Brooke Singer, professors in the School of Natural and Social Sciences. Development of the current version is supported by an award from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
Purchase College students, faculty, and staff can join for only $35 a year. Students get $35 in free driving to use your first month! Get 24/7 access to Zipcars parked right on campus! Simply reserve online, let yourself in with your Zipcard and drive. Our low hourly and daily rates always include gas and insurance.
You only need to be 18+ to join. Members age 18-20 can use a dedicated group of Zipcars that live on campus. Members age 21+ also have access to thousands of Zipcars all around the world.
It's been nearly a decade since our founders sat in a café and decided to bring the European car-sharing idea to Cambridge, Massachusetts soil. "Purchase Loop” is the name of the Purchase College Shuttle Bus Service. The system is paid for through your Mandatory Fees and is FREE to ride. Beginning service in 2002, the Purchase Loop has expanded service by 200% since then. We are dedicated to making this the best free college bus system in the country.
